Posy Quilt 40 x 52 in. |
How about that Lotta Jansdotter for the backing?! It spoke to me from the bolt and I just had to bring it home - I love how it has both the bright and white of the quilt front.
Favourite block.
And now for my Sew,Mama,Sew Giveaway! This is my first time participating in this giveaway and I post this on the morning of the day I am flying across the continent to go on a great adventure. I am meeting 3 friends in New York City and I am super, bursting with excitement. Sooooo, I thought that a really fun thing to giveaway would be some fabric straight from the Big Apple.
Some time ago, Chrissie, of Made by Chrissie D, emailed me a fabulous list of fabric stores in NYC to visit (thanks, Chrissie!!!) and while I perused one of the store websites I found this undeniably amazing fabric....
Fabric photos from The City Quilter website |
...and this amazing fabric is from the 'City Collection', made by The City Quilter in, you guessed it - New York City. I am going to bring home 3 fat quarters (depending on which ones they have in stock, of course) of this fabric to share with one of you, international entries welcome !
All you have to do is:
1. Comment on this post. I would love it if you left me a comment telling me about a great adventure that you have been on or would like to go on.
2. Followers get 2 entries. Leave me a second comment telling me you are a follower. New followers welcome!

ReplyDeleteMy trip of all time was going alone to a top notch spa called Miraval in Tucson, Arizona. It was fun and had lots of group activities, both during the day and at night. I remember the hot rock massage and prickly pear creams. Using all my frequent flyer miles was well worth it. We still use my "Life in Balance" tea cup they gave guests. alternate email mlwright29(at)hotmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteI went to New York City a few years ago for the first time - it was great! I loved getting up to Long Island to go canoeing and eating a picnic lunch from this great Italian grocery store. I have been to Hawaii with my sister, when we were both in our early 20s. We got up in the middle of the night to be toted to the top of a dormant volcano and then bicycle down the mountainside for the rest of the day. I'm ready to try some adventure with my DH.

Your Posy quilt is so pretty! I love that each background is a different fabric.....adds to the colourful 'scrappy' look! Now as to my favourite holiday destination.....spending a lifetime road tripping to various towns, cities, states in Australia has been a delight! But.....I am soooooo jealous that your next holiday destination is The Big Apple. I have always wanted to go there......to visit all those quirky shops, the garment district, perhaps find a treasure or two at the flea markets, drink in all the sights, sounds and bustle of 'the city that never sleeps".......perhaps one day.....if I am a very good girl!!

I feel a little weird saying that I have never been on a great adventure. Unless you count motherhood :) I am a homebody and don't transition well. I would like to travel SOMEWHERE when my kids are a little more grown, but we'll see, ha.
ReplyDeleteMy great adventure came when I won a Caribbean cruise, my sister had to back out at last minute so I ended up going alone. Alone on a gorgeous ship and stopping at a few ports and exploring new places. It was great, I made some friends, tried foods that I have never tried before and had experiences that I never had before. I ice-skated and surfed for the first time on a ship in the middle of the ocean.

ReplyDeleteA favorite adventure of mine was going to the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, BC a couple years ago! Took the train to Canada, then took light rail into the city, then other light rail and buses to the various venues (Women's Curling and Women's Hockey, great fun!) and then spent a day walking around town, being part of the GIGANTIC crowds, seeing the Olympic Flame, eating new foods, talking with so many strangers, experiencing Vancouver at its best ... oh I have such memories! And of course I bought a Tim Horton's Olympic special donut. Maple leaf sprinkles! :)

ReplyDeleteWe're going to wait a couple of years until everyone is well and truly potty trained, then we're going to rent an RV and drive from Toronto to PEI. I want my girls to see the ocean. :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a little kid I used to dream about going camping all over the country by myself, but I thought it would be too scary and I would never really be able to do it... then I got older, and braver, and I traveled the country by myself! I camped in Big Sur and up and down the west coast and I stayed with family and friends all over the country. It was the best adventure, crammed into just 3 months, ever!
ReplyDeleteYes, I want a grand adventure! Does that count as an entry? ;) No big travel escapes recently, but I always love visiting new places and exploring. Hope you have lots of fun.

And to boot - we raised £26,000 for other young women with the horrible, nasty, selfish disease.
ReplyDeleteMy other two best adventures were spent in Alberta, seeing bears, horse riding, hiking - with some great friends.

Before becoming a classroom teacher, I was a professional tall ship sailor and we had quite a few adventures due to weather, length of trip, or crazy crew mates. In Honduras, a local fisherman came to the boat to say hello. The captain invited him on board and as he was taking a tour the fisherman told us that every day as a boy he used to climb up the hill with his Grandfather to see if the boat was in town. When he found out that the boat was being sold and may not be back, he was agitated and said he had to leave. We thought he was upset, but he returned a short time later with a boatload of red snapper and insisted on cooking dinner for the crew to thank the boat for the memories he had. It was an amazing thing. (And the snapper was delicious!)
