Origami
My friend, Martha at 'Weekend Doings' has started a weekly Friday linky party called 'A Picture...A Moment', where we can share a picture that tells about a moment from our week. I thought I would share this picture, as it signifies the final touches of a project very close to my heart that is now underway.
After many months of planning and preparation, I opened my own preschool this week (aptly named Hilltop House Preschool). What fun I have had with the decorating (think quilts and pillows) and adding final touches, such as Mr. Origami Crane above, who along with his flock (in every colour of the rainbow of course) was added to some branches for whimsy and colour.
Hope you will join us in sharing your pics...what moments stand out for you this week?
Have a fabulous weekend!
~Lisa

Hi Lisa, Congratulations on opening your preschool. I worked as a preschool teacher for ten years and they were some of the most rewarding and special years of my life. Young children are so full of curiosity and a eagerness to learn. Besides being so adorably cute. Thank you for visiting my blog and for the kind words that you left on your comment.
ReplyDeleteYour origami bird reminds me of a student teaching assignment that I had so very many years ago. I was given a 5th grade class for the day. I had to have lesson plans for the entire day and I was assigned an assistant. My assistant was a young Japanese man that knew very little English. The day went very smoothly until late afternoon, when everything that I had planned was completed. I had about a half hour with nothing . . . instant panic, right . . . . everyone knows that you can guarantee behavior problems when you have nothing to grab their attention. I looked at my assistant and said "origami" he said "yes" and we were on our way. The kids loved it and it was the end of a perfect day.
Well, I've gone on and on . . . I do hope that you will visit my blog again. I would love to have you as a follower.
Your blogging sister, Connie :)
What a fun new adventure. Can't wait to hear how it goes:) I've thought about opening a preschool quite a few times but it has never been the "right" time for me or our family. Good luck...you will be an awesome, creative, fun teacher!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! That is so exciting. And that is a great photo!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations and best wishes for your new preschool. Origami cranes bring good luck and I have a special connection to them. When I was at preschool in London my first friend was a Japanese girl and her Mum made us Origami Crane mobiles for her birthday party. I still have this mobile and it's one of my most precious possessions! Love to see some more photos of your school, you have wonderful ideas and taste.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!!! That is so exciting! I've loved and adored my daughters preschool teachers. SO much fun. I am sure your preschool will be amazing. Love Mr. Crane too!
